This is the first of a series of lighthouse magazines. This issue if primarily
for grades 5-6. Eventually there will be a complete set of magazines from pre-school through adult. The purpose
of these magazines is to present information and activities that families can do at lighthouses or at home.
The idea for this project originated at the American Lighthouse Foundation conference a few years ago. The goal
was to develop a complete lighthouse curriculum for people no matter their age. The title of the magazine, Kids on the
Beam, was suggested by Elinor DeWire, lighthouse author.
